Newsgroup Servers wanted

Could somebody in the forum tell me how to use newsgroups. I browse the net from my office LAN and I can't seem to connect to the VSNL NEWS server... news.vsnl.net.in using my Outlook Express client. Are there any other free newsgroup servers on the net that I could connect to? Thanks in advance Sharath

You are not able to connect to news.vsnl.net.in perhaps because you are not using VSNL as an ISP. I see from your headers that you are on Satyam (your server is aas.satyam.net.in, interesting name for a gateway server) and VSNL has lately blocked access to its NNTP server from outside its domain. I run a UUCP as well as NNTP server in Calcutta, accessible by local dialup lines, let me know if you want to test your system on my servers. > news.vsnl.net.in using my Outlook Express client. Do I conclude from the above that the mighty Satyam, the first private ISP in India, does not run its own NNTP server!? Thank you! If you want web-based newgroup access you could try at http://www.dejanews.com or else use the nntp server, newsfeeds.com

hello! the vsnl news server address which i used to visit from New Delhi was 202.54.15.25 but it seems to be dysfunctional for atleast 4-5 months now! try contacting ur isp(VSNL/Satyam/Mantra/MTNL Etc.) ankur jain [email protected]
