For Future Investment Plans

9th Aug 1999      PK Joseph @gto.net.om

Is there any Chartered accountants, lawyers specialsed in Financial affairs
or Investment advisors on our List?

I was advised by someone to invest in real estate now in India because the
demand is less and will improve or multply in near future because;

1. Gold prices are going to crash since IMF, UK, Canada and Australia is
determined to sell the gold.
2. Bank Interest is going to be reduced to the tune of 6% to 8% as like
international standards.
3. The land will be in demand as the population grows and people will look
forward to have own house than sharing houses.

Is it worth investing when the prices are good?. What will be the
appreciation for real estate in 3 to 5 years to come?

Hi all,

What is the connection between gold prices and real estate?

I presume if gold prices are low, people are using their savings to buy gold
& not using it to invest in real estate. As demand for gold rises, it
becomes more expensive. Simultaneously there is low demand for real estate,
which makes real estate cheaper. When that happens the pendulum swings the
other way & investment in real estate becomes more popular. With demand,
real estate prices are pushed up & people again move to gold, whose price
has fallen with falling demand.

Ultimately an equilibrium is reached.

Actually it is 5 yrs since I did any eco, so if I am proposing a brave new
theory nominate me for the Noble Prize. Else forgive me for making u read
till here.

Cheers!

PS: Just read the rest of the msg [after the first 2 lines]. The part above
still holds.

Hi,

Interesting. Why this relation between gold and real estate? Is it because
they are physical assets?

Real estate is down now in India for sure but will pick up. We need a stable
govt for sure. Before you invest from abroad I suggest you check if that
investment is repatriable. Most NRIs want the investment to be repatriable.
