Who is responsible for rise in Onion, Potato & salt prices

2th Nov 1998      Ramkumar @gto.net.om

Dear inn mates

I feel opposition parties in India particularly congress party is rigging
prices of Onions, Potatoes, Salt etc., This is to create an impression in
minds of Indian people that BJP government is inefficient and not able
control the spiralling prices of essential goods. They have taken
advantage of some existing market factors and rigging the prices,
to have an edge over BJP in the coming four state elections.

But what you people out there feel about this please share your
opinions and comments.

Thanks

D Ramkumar

There is, I feel, no single factor that can be attributed to the rise in
prices of all essential commodities. Though it would be nice to
hallucinate that this is politically motivated, however I feel this is a
complete failure of the law and order machinery in the country. If the
government knew that there was going to be a shortage in the supply of say
onions then why were'nt corrective steps taken. Too much rain seems to be
too lame an excuse for a government when its job itself is to govern.
Planning is an essential part of governance and rest is just hype.
